Hello from CNN. I'm Joe Beck with the five things you need to know for Monday

July 29th. Fears of an all-out war in the Middle East are rising after deadly strikes in Israel and Lebanon.

Israel is blaming Hezbollah for a rocket attack in the Israeli occupied Golan Heights

that killed 12 children while they were playing soccer on Saturday.

The Iranian-backed Lebanese militant group denies carrying out the strike,

but that didn't stop a reaction, with Israel's military saying its warplanes hit Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.

And today, Lebanese state media reports that two people were killed in a double drone strike

in the south of the country. Secretary of State Anthony Blinkin says this escalation is

related to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. One of the reasons that we're

continuing to work so hard for a ceasefire in Gaza is not just for Gaza but also so that we can

really unlock an opportunity to bring calm, lasting calm across the blue line

between Israel and Lebanon.

We're determined to bring the Gaza conflict to a close.

It's gone on for far too long.

It's cost far too many lives.

Meanwhile, the UN agency, UNRWAWA says 86% of Gaza is under Israeli evacuation

orders which the agency's head warns is creating havoc, panic and suffering

among civilians.

We're now less than 10 days away from the presidential election, and things are heating

up.

Vice President Kamala Harris has only been in the race for a week, but she's already making her mark. and a Kamal Harris became the presumptive Democratic nominee.

Her net favorability is now actually in the positive territory.
