With the five things you need to know for Wednesday, February 7th. House Republican leaders didn't get enough votes to impeach

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Meyorkus. It failed 216 to 214, with three Republicans joining Democrats to vote no.

Republicans claim that Majorquis is not enforcing U.S. law in his handling of the border,

but his office has called the impeachment to farce.

And as CNN's Lauren Fox explains,

one Democrat congressman made a shock return from surgery

to vote against the attempt,

surprising GOP leaders in the 11th hour.

Al Green comes, he's wheeled into the House. G. how tenuous this majority is right now. You have to know where every single vote is and

you have to know where the other side stands too.

It's not over yet though, with Republican leaders saying they'll try again when majority leader Steve Scalise returns

from getting cancer treatments. So next time round, the vote will likely pass, and Meyorkus could

still be impeached, but it's expected to fail in the Democrat controlled Senate.

And speaking of the Senate, an aide says Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is planning to force a vote today

on an emergency aid package for Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan, for now dropping the expected border deal
