Kevin McCarthy's fighting for his job as House Speaker after a revolt from some of his fellow Republicans.

I do intend to file a motion to vacate against Speaker McCarthy this week.

I think we need to rip off the band-aid.

I think we need to move on with new leadership that can be trustworthy.

That was Congressman Matt Gates telling CNN that he and others from the right flank of the

GOP will try and remove McCarthy from his role.

It comes after Congress passed the stopgap bill

to keep the government open.

McCarthy says for his part, he welcomes the fight.

But to win, he may need support from Democrats.

And as CNN's Melanie Sonna tells us, that may not come easily.

Most of the Democrats that I talk to say they are reluctant to bail out McCarthy.

They feel like they can't trust him. They don't like

that he just launched an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden without

sufficient evidence. But there are some moderate Democrats who are really

worried about throwing the House into chaos.

So as at this point, Hakkem Jeffries, the Democratic leader, is counseling members to keep their

powder dry.

Nearly 4,000 United Auto Workers have reached a tentative agreement at 5 Mack Truck

Facilities in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Florida.
