I don't know about you, but I find such comfort in the realistic portraits in scripture.

Like, there's the one father who brings his son to Jesus to be healed.

And he says, teacher, if you can do anything, have mercy.

And Jesus's response is, if I can, everything is possible to the one who believes.

And perhaps you find yourself in that space of doubt.

God, do you care?

Can you do anything?

Today's passage comes from Mark chapter 4, verses 23 and 24.

Jesus said to the Father,

If you can, everything is possible for the one who believes.

And immediately the Father of the Boy cried out, I do believe. Help my unbelief.

Let's begin by reciting God's goodness together.

Oh Heavenly Father, you alone are God, and there is no other.

How mysterious are your ways, how different are your thoughts than our thoughts.

How great you are! No one can probe your limits.

Oh God, you are the Almighty One. And we are humbled by your majesty. We are comforted by your power.
