We've all heard the adage pride comes before a fall.

And none of us really want the pride, but are we actively bringing our pride before the Lord?

It's one of those insidious sins that is so sneaky that we don't even really know we're struggling in with

pride until we find ourselves in the middle of the fall. And that's a painful place to be.

Welcome to the prayers of breast podcast. I'm your host, Asthterita, and this season we are praying through

spiritual strongholds. Today, we are breaking free from pride through the power of God's spirit.

So take a deep breath and quiet your heart as we become aware of God's loving presence around us and within us.

Today's passage comes from 1 Peter chapter 5 verses 5 through 6. God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.

So humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

Let's begin by reciting God's goodness.

Lord God, you are high and lifted up.

You are seated on a heavenly throne surrounded by angels and cherubim who cry out holy, holy, holy to declare your splendor and your glory.

And yet you stoop down to give grace to the humble you are close to the broken

hearted you you hear the cries of those who call out to you oh god in your goodness you shower the humble with your favor.

How kind you are.

That you don't just invite perfect people with smiling faces and everything chucked off their list.

Those who do great things and who always receive the applause and the praise of others, you say that it is

not the well who need a doctor, but the sick, those who beat their chest like the tax

collector in the temple and say, woe is me. Woe is me.

God, thank you that you invite us in our brokenness, in our desperation, in our humility, in those moments when we recognize our need for you, you are close by.

Because that is your heart of love.

How good you are, Father, to be close to the humble.
