I'm going to get why the rise in all different kind of crime is not

a bigger story. I just don't get it. It's been going on for a couple of years. For decades,

crime more or less mysteriously went down with all kinds of people throwing out theories as to why.

I like the locking more people up theory. Locking more criminals up here.

But remember there is the big theory that it coincided with Roe vs Wade.

So people who are going to be bad at raising kids weren't having kids who had less criminals.

Well, unless something's changed there, why is crime back on the rise? I don't know.

But I wish it was a bigger story because it bothers me a lot.

Well, and you have a couple of stories. Number one, you have a nationwide rise in violent crime,

although it varies from city to city. It's tough to look at nationwide statistics and draw

any conclusions from them. The second thing is an explosion and property crime in the state of

California and to discuss both those matters and whatever else comes up. Jerry Rivera joins us.

Jerry's currently director of international institute of criminal justice leadership and a

professor at the University of San Francisco. He was the police chief of San Francisco for a number

of years in the 90s and a cop for a very long time. He joins us now. Jerry, how are you, sir?
