I'm Gary McNamara good morning all right we've got the

latest update from the National Hurricane Center speed has ticked up a little bit. Yeah 90 mile an hour now sustained when still a category

one haleen but quickly on the way to becoming a category 2 hurricane.

You have right now in place low wind shear and warm waters that are fueling this hurricane

and the wind shears won't increase, they say,

until closer to landfall, which means plenty of time

for this hurricane to become a lot more dangerous and the footprint pretty

355 miles out from the center and you still have tropical storm force winds.

That means a great number of people will be in the path of damaging winds from Hurricane

Helene.

Then you look at the storm surge. What they're looking at as it makes

sure arrives in Florida near Tallahassee somewhere they believe 18 to 20 feet storm surge.

That is extremely dangerous.

flooding is the most deadly part of any hurricane when you combine the storm surge and the heavy rain.
