The high on this day was in 1939 when it reached 98 degrees.

And it was as chilly as 36 degrees on three occasions, 1964, 2007, and 2011.

And now from the mayor's office above the boat house, an east shore of Spoon Lake.

It's garage logic with working on production, Chris Reaver's director of social media,

John Hyde in the newsroom, and occasionally Kenny from the crabby coffee shop.

Here is your flashlight king, fireworks commissioner, and keeper of common sense.

I intend to, as of this moment, go on a long rambling soliloquy, not scientific in nature by any means.

But you note that I always include these record highs and lows for the day, for your amusement, for my amusement.

And I got thinking today, well, if we're in a climate crisis, and if the earth is warming, why aren't more warm temperature records set within a few years of right now?

And so then I began looking at, I just did the month of September. I'll do it next, I'll do it for October as well.

The only modern record for warmth on this day was 2017.

And that tied 1891 in 1937, 92 or whatever it was.

That's the only one. The rest of them were in the 19th century, the early part of the 20th century, mid-20th century, into the 50s.

But so here's what I'm willing to say. That proves absolutely nothing. That's just nature. And nature is random.

And on this day in 1939, that's the second day in a row in 1939, the warm record temperature in these neck of the woods was established.

And tomorrow might be 1888 or whatever we'll find out tomorrow. And I'm willing to say that proves nothing. That proves nothing, except the randomness of nature.

And yet, news gathering institutions are uniformly insisting that the wildfires and now the Sally tropical storm, they are definitely proof of whatever they're calling it, global warming or climate change.

And they're no more proof of anything than me pointing out that only one warm temperature record, the most recent one that you can find for the month of September was in 2017.
