14 years ago I was in New York City and I was on Houston Street between Avenue A and

and first Avenue and I was flagging down a taxi cab to go to work and got into the cab and I remember I was

listening to one of the really early MP3 players and so I wasn't really in

tuned what was going on around me and the taxi was taking me to work I was kind of

at my internet startup company I was at at the time and I remember looking down the

block and I noticed the World Trade Center and it had a big black hole in it and there was clouds of smoke coming out of it.

And I said to the cab driver, I said, what the hell is that?

And he said, a plane went into the World Trade Center and I was like Jesus, okay and we kept driving for like

another block and on the block and he was listening to the radio and he said another

plane just went into the World Trade Center and we both just stopped and

we looked at each other like in the rearview mirror and I was like oh man something's

on and And I was like, oh man, something's on.

And, you know, what a day it was. I tried calling my friends, but all the cell signals were just out because I think they were blocked by everyone. I got to work. The whole city was just

freaking out. I got a buddy of mine from Wall Street that called me and all of the rumors spread really fast on Wall Street because all the phone

lines are just one click away and so he was like look the Pentagon just got

hit they just hit someplace else and I was like oh my God and that wasn't out on the news yet and

We were like what's up and all the tall buildings in New York, everybody was freaking out.

So, you know, it was a pretty heavy day.

And I remember I had like sprained my ankle really bad and we all had to walk home because

no public transport was working. And I remember I walked from 36th Street and 8th Avenue back to where I lived which was on house and an Avenue A and so that's 36 streets and 8 blocks and it was the weirdest day because everybody was on on the streets

walking home almost in silence in New York City and you know it was a and you in the background down at the tip of Manhattan

you can see the smoke coming out and everybody was just flabbergasted,
