National Security Council spokesman John Kirby on a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

With America and nations aligned with Israel hoping to see an end to the shelling back and

forth with Hamas, Kirby says any ceasefire would be more of a benefit to Hamas fighters.

He continued to support an alternative at the White House press briefing.

Very localized humanitarian pauses to allow aid to get to specific populations and maybe

even to help with the evacuation of people that want to get out, move more to the south.

We do support that. Kirby says the US is leading the effort to get humanitarian aid to Gaza,

adding that effort might not be seen without American involvement.
