compelled to appear. I'm Lisa Lacerra. Fox News. The House Committee has issued subpoenas for the Justice Department for files related to the Jeffrey Epstein case and is seeking depositions from officials with previous administrations.

A wide-ranging list of former government officials includes former president and secretary of state, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and officials from both the Trump and Obama administrations like James Comey, Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Merrick Garland, Robert Mueller, William Barr, Jeff Sessions, and Alberto Gonzalez.

Fox News Learning, a House Oversight Committee subcommittee panel unanimously

voted to issue the subpoenas for depositions regarding Jeffrey Epstein in late July.

The first deadline will be August 18th for former Trump administration attorney general William Barr.

Fox is Ryan Schmels in Washington. Meanwhile, lawyers for Epstein's girlfriend,

Galane Maxwell, have asked a federal judge in New York to deny the government's request to unseal grand jury testimony related to the Epstein case.

Her lawyers arguing this would harm her legal rights explaining Epstein is dead.

Maxwell is not.

And public interest cannot justify a broad intrusion into grand jury secrecy in a case where the defendant is alive.

Her legal options are viable and her due process rights remain.

The filing comes as two judges consider the Justice Department's request to release the grand jury material.

Fox is Kristen Goodwin. Maxwell serving 20 years for her role in helping Epstein traffic and abuse young girls.
