The medical examiner's office in D.C. says its preliminary findings indicate that U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham died from an a-order rupture stemming from a hardening of the arteries.

He was 71.

If deaths shocked the nation and President Trump, who called Graham a friend,

Flags here at the White House have been lowered to half staff and President Trump

posted on truth social, saying to honor the life of Senator Lindsey Graham,

he is ordering that all American flags across the country be lowered

to half staff until Saturday. President Trump also says he spoke to Senator Lindsey Graham just last night.

The senator's office shared the news early this morning of his deaths presiding a brief and sudden

illness. The Wall Street Journal reporting that emergency responders were dispatched to Graham's home last night

and performed CPR on an individual suffering from cardiac arrest.

Fox is Chad Pergammon, D.C. reports on what members of Congress are saying about Senator Graham's passing.

Several said it was Graham's wit, which made him effective even during epic

political and policy battles. Republican South Carolina Representative Russell Fry noted that it

was the tenacity of Graham which saved the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett

Kavanaugh in the fall of 2018. Christine Blasey Ford accused

Kavanaugh of sexual assault. One of the most authentically funny people that you'll meet.

I mean, this is the man who resurrected the career of Kavanaugh and put him on the Supreme Court.

Now, Fry is one name mentioned as a possible Graham's successor.
