The suspect in the shooting at the White House correspondent's dinner was in court today.

Cole Thomas Allen did not end reply when he was charged with attempted assassination of the president and weapons charges.

Violence has no place in civic life.

It cannot and will not be used to disrupt democratic institutions

or intimidate those who serve them, and it certainly cannot continue to be used against the President of the United States.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, who says more charges could be coming.

An officer wearing a bulletproof vest was hit with gunfire, but is expected to recover. No one else was

heard. White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt says they will be reviewing security protocols.

There will be a meeting early this week, convened by the White House Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles,

with top DHS leadership,

members of the United States Secret Service and our own operations team here to ensure the safety and the security of the president.

Levitt says the discussion about the line of succession did take place before the dinner,

but a designated survivor was not chosen because several cabinet members did not attend the dinner.

After the plan talks between

the U.S. and Iran were canceled by President Trump this weekend. Secretary of State Marco Rubio tells

Fox that Iran can't hold the Strait of Hormuz hostage. The straits is basically the equivalent

of an economic nuclear weapon that they're trying to use against the world. And they're bragging

about it. They're putting up billboards in Tehran bragging about how they can hold 25% or 20% of the world's energy hostage.

Iran has offered to open the Strait of Hormuz if the U.S. lifts its blockade on Iranian ports.
