Psalm 123 verse 1.

To you I lift up my eyes.

Oh you who are enthroned in the heavens.

As soon as I read this verse,

I just think about one of my favorite hymns from the past. It's so simple. It just

says the same words over and over again. Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in his wonderful face, and the things

of Earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.

I think that's exactly what Psalm 1.23.1 is calling us to do. To lift up our eyes, to see the one who is

enthroned in the heavens, to see him in all of his glory.

Like our perspective on this world,

our perspective on what matters in the world,

our perspective on everything in our lives,

changes when we see it in the light of God, in the light of God and His glory and His grace. That's exactly what Psalm the

123 goes on to talk about he says as our eyes look to you we know that you will have

mercy on us like when we are walking through dark difficult times, times, hard times, to look up, to look up from the valley and to see

the God who has all power and all of his glory.

And to realize that he is merciful and gracious,

that he is, that he will help us get through this valley, lift up your eyes, especially if you're

in a valley right now and see the God of glory and grace who is your help.

And even when we're at the mountaintop,

when we're walking through highs in this life,
