Summary

"Expectations obviously are higher now. But I put them on myself." —Allie Kieffer

When Allie Kieffer was on Episode 46 of the Ali on the Run Show last November, she was fresh off a fifth-place finish at the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon. Her 2:29 finish was triumphant: She was this unknown, unsponsored runner from Buffalo, NY, who happened to be the first American woman to finish behind winner Shalane Flanagan. Now, Allie is no longer unknown or unsponsored. She signed with Oiselle soon after NYC, trained in Kenya for seven weeks, and recently moved to Boulder, CO, where she's gearing up to return to the New York City Marathon.

All week long, I'm bringing back returning favorite guests who have been up to some big,

scary, exciting things since our last conversations. So obviously Alley keeper is here.

Alley was on the show last November after she took fifth place at the 2017 TCS New York City

Marathon. She ran a 229 that day and was the first American to finish behind Shaline

Planigan. At the time Alley was an unsponsored under the radar runner living with her boyfriend

0:38.9

in Buffalo, New York. Now she's a widely well-known sponsored by Wazell Runner living without a

0:45.4

aforementioned boyfriend in Boulder, Colorado. Alley's become a vocal advocate for body positivity

0:51.5

and she spent weeks training in Kenya. Now she's coming back stronger than ever from a

0:56.5

gnarly injury that had her sideline for a while earlier this year. Lost to talk about here,

1:01.9

take it away Alley. All right Alley keeper, welcome back to the Alley on the Run Show. I am so

1:12.9

excited to have you here today. Thanks so much for having me. I'm excited too. All right,

1:17.2

before we dive into all the good stuff, remind everyone who you are, where you're from,

1:21.7

and what it is that you do. So I'm a marathoner now. I've realized that after New York City,

1:27.5

where I play fifth, where I'm from all over. I feel like I've been bouncing around since

1:32.4

New York City Marathon. I'm in Boulder now officially moved like a week ago. So that is exciting.

1:41.2

And I am coming back from injury. So I'm on the road to hopefully another fall marathon.

1:47.2

Yay, there's a lot to catch up on. So let's get right in. Now, as you mentioned, the last time

1:52.4

that we talked was right after the New York City Marathon in 2017, when you placed fifth,

1:57.5

which was like a breakthrough race, you were suddenly the name out of everyone's mouths. Everyone

was talking about it. So tell me, you know, it feels like a lifetime ago, but let's go back to last
