1 Timothy chapter 6, verse 11.

But as for you, O man of God, flee these things.

Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.

What a great, clear verse to pray.

Like, flee these things, Paul says, and he's just spent right before this in the nine

or so verses before First Timothy 6, 11, he talks about fleeing, controversy, quarrels over different doctrines and different

teaching that produce envy and dissension and slander and suspicions and friction among people.

Then he talks specifically about fleeing the possessions of this world and the love of money.

He says right before this verse in 1 Timothy 610, the love of money is the possessions of this world and the love of money. He says right before this

verse in 1 Timothy 610, the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. So he says,

flee all these things and pursue these other things instead. And he lists six words,

righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, and gentleness.

So let's just pray this over each other, over our lives.

God, we pray that you would help us to flee.

False teaching, Lord, help us to hold fast to the truth.

Help us to flee controversy and conceit.

God, help us to flee temptation toward envy, toward dissension, towards slander. God, help us to speak honorably about people. Help us to build others up with our words in your

truth. God, we pray that you would help us to guard against friction and evil suspicions and that you

would help us to flee the love of money. God, please help us to flee the love

of money, the love of the things of this world, thinking 1 John chapter 2, help us not to love the

pleasures, possessions, pursuits of this world. Help us to flee all those things
