Can we talk about something else?

Hello, out there.

Before we get started, I just want to share something

or some things that help me when I'm down.

This isn't an ad, just a reaction to some of the conversations I've had with a few of you on the site.

Despite common belief, suicide rates are highest in the spring.

The media has enjoyed the narrative that the holidays cause people to end their lives, but it's not true.

They do, but not at a higher rate.

It's being forced to come out of hibernation and deal with people again.

That spikes it.

I've mentioned a few times my love for the colder months.

The months where everything pales a little, and people seem to humble up in response to nature's retreat to its near deathbed.

I'll quote the black crows here.

The smell of hospitals and winter, and the feeling that it's all a lot of oysters, but no pearls.

And I guess the winter makes you laugh a little slower, makes you talk a little lower,

about the things you couldn't show.

And it's a long to say above, right?

What's my point and my point is that as long as you're depressed, you still have a shot.

It means you still care that you still feel.

So, if you are, or even if you're beyond that and you're numb,

just know that you're not alone, truly.
