Isaiah chapter 9 verse 6.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his

name shall be called wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Oh, let's just think about that first name that he shall be called.

What Isaiah is prophesying God is promising, a child, a son who will rule the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be

called wonderful counselor. You think about that. When you walk through difficulties, challenges in your life,

just day-to-day life. And you seek counsel from people around you.

What are you looking for?

You're looking for help.

You're looking for affirmation, you're looking for Affirmation, you're looking for wisdom

and what to do, where to go, what decision to make,

how to act, like in so many different ways we are looking for counsel and

obviously looking for counsel involves humility in us because we know we are prone to do things that are not wise, we are prone to

act in ways that we later regret, and so we want to make wise good decisions. We want to live wise good lives and so we seek

counsel from those we respect and we receive that counsel even then though their council is not always perfect

I've been given council before that I listened to and heated and then later found out that was not a good decision that I made.

Now that's not to blame it on a bad counselor,

but the reality is even the best counsel in this world is still not perfect.

Yet Isaiah is promising.

A wonderful, beautiful, glorious, perfect, reliable, counselor.

This is who Jesus is.
