Hey, how's it going? My name is Doug Parker. Thank you so much for checking out this episode of Cruise Radio. Very happy to have you here, my friend. A review of Royal Caribbean's icon of the seas this week. And staff writer, Richard Sims checks in, well, he's having to spend a little time in Florida because his ship couldn't go out because of the weather. So he is here right now with

cruise news. Hey, Richard. Hey, Doug. Now, you're supposed to be in Nassau, Bahamas today, but it looks

like your cruise took a right or I guess a left turn from New York. From the beginning.

You know, I suspected that we would have a little bit of difficulty because of that big winter vortex that everybody was talking about. And sure enough, we sailed out of New York on Sunday, late afternoon, and almost immediately headed into very rough waters. By day two, the winds were 60 knots, and we had like 12-foot waves,

and it was a bumpy, bumpy ride. They eventually announced that we would be changing our

itinerary, and what would happen was we were supposed to get into

Florida. We were arriving in Port Canaveral. Originally, it was supposed to be Tuesday morning,

and instead we got there like 5 o'clock Tuesday night, and we overnighted there. We're still

there as we record this right now, which is Wednesday,

late afternoon. We're supposed to sail out of here around 5 o'clock, and instead of going to

Ocean Key, we're going to go straight to the Bahamas. We will skip the private island because

they said they did not think that the weather conditions would allow us to go there and instead we

will just go to the Bahamas and then do the two-day trek back to New York. It's one of those

things where it always feels weird to make that call so far in advance because right now the

weather certainly doesn't seem like it's so bad that it would prevent us from going to Ocean

Key. But hey, you know, I'm on a ship. I'm happy. It was funny. I'm on the MSC. Mavilla. And the same ship I did back in October. And I was talking to the concierge, and I said, so, have you started getting the complaints from people who are like, we're not going to the private island? I want a refund, I want cruise credit, I want this. She was basically like, you know, basically said, yeah, they're coming fast and furious. So, so, you know, people are going to be people and they're going to complain. What can you do? But as far as I'm concerned, I'm on a lovely ship, but I'm having a pretty good time, so I'm good

to go. Kicking cruise news off right here in Florida, where off the coast, a cruise ship's wake

wound up capsizing a boat. Yeah, this all wind down Saturday evening, just after 6 p.m., when the

Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department, along with the Coast Guard and

other units, responded to reports of the small boat being capsized. Apparently, the captains of the pilot
