A horrific fire destroyed the home of the Sodder family on Christmas Eve 1945. The family had 10 children, and 5 did not emerge from the home in Fayetteville, West Virginia during that fire. For years, it has been debated if the children had passed in the fire…or if they were missing. The case is summed up perfectly in this quote from NPR “”There is enough genuine weirdness about this whole thing ... that if someday it is learned that the children did not die in the fire I won't be shocked”.”
