Three tube stops east of the Beastasts flat on Twyford Avenue,

a full day's drive from the Knieva's homeland in North Macedonia,

but 964 miles west from where the story actually began.

Stop K was just a regular bus stop on an ordinary western street.

It is a single-sided Perspex shelter, barely big enough for three pensioners, a pram, a small poodle and half a posterior.

But at least having only one wall, the whiff of B.O., eggy breaths and bum-boughs doesn't
