Summary

"They play 'New York, New York,' and everyone goes crazy."

It was another New York City Marathon to remember. It was one of the most rewarding weekends of my life and of my career. I hosted a live show with Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone at Jazz at Lincoln Center, I was on the ESPN and ABC broadcasts on race day, I interviewed Katie Couric for the Ali on the Run Show, and I was on top of the world the entire time. This is my exhaustive recap of every step.

Welcome to the Allie on the Run Show. I'm your host, Allie Feller, and welcome to TCS New York City Marathon Recap Time. This trip was another one for the books. There was the Sydney McLaughlin-Livroney show. That episode dropped earlier this week. So now it is time for the time-honored tradition of Allie's New York City Marathon Recap.

0:23.6

If you are down for some one-on-one time, I am about to run through all the events, stories, and details for my weekend in New York City.

0:30.9

I was in town this year hosting that live show with Sydney and New Balance and as part of the ESPN and ABC broadcast teams on race day.

0:39.1

What a sentence I never thought I would get to say. I was at the start. I was in a car to the

0:44.7

finish and then I was at the finish line grabbing interviews for the broadcast until 5 p.m.

0:49.5

It was a hugely rewarding weekend. It was so much fun and I'm about to recap all of it for you as we do.

0:56.6

I will warn you. I am recording this. Let's see, I had the New York City Marathon weekend from Friday to

1:02.5

Monday. Had a big interview on Monday before I headed back, which I will talk about. Drove back,

1:07.5

got home around 8 p.m. on Monday night and then was up very, very early to go to chemo on Tuesday.

1:14.8

So I'm recording this on Wednesday and I am admittedly not feeling the greatest.

1:18.8

This was a pretty rough chemo round.

1:21.1

I think my body was just so depleted going into it.

1:23.8

And then the premeds made me really sick.

1:26.3

I threw up a whole lot. So I am just, yeah,

1:30.6

riding that struggle bus today. I would say I'm driving it, but I'm too tired to drive it. I'm

1:34.7

somewhere in the back trying to sleep. So we'll see how this goes. But before we start breaking

1:40.1

it all down, I'd like to let you know that this episode is brought to you by Shocks.

1:45.3

Shocks, the official headphone partner of the TCS New York City Marathon and a longtime friend

1:50.8

of the Alley on the Run Show. Shocks has truly taken over and for really good reason. These are

1:56.2

my favorite headphones. First, I love that they rest on top of your ears. I hate having things in my ears. Plus, that's not safe. Earpods have always been a no-go for me, but shocks fit perfectly. They're so light and comfortable, you really won't even notice that they're on. I love that the Open Run Pro model comes with a quick charge feature. There have been so many times I've been headed out the door for a run or a walk.

2:18.4

I turn on my headphones and I hear battery low.

2:21.4

Well, I can't have that.
