So many of us, warmest parents, were raised with the sexual messages and mores and the shame culture of the church.

And so I have a PhD in psychology now, clinical and counseling psychology. And I've mishandled how I've talked to my children about sex and sexual assault and those sorts of things.

And so it wouldn't be great if, in Chris and I think you kind of mentioned this, wouldn't it be great if there were Sunday school priesthood, relieved society, lessons about consent, about sexual health, about, you know, the sex positive messages.

Wouldn't it be great if all those hours, those thousands of hours we spend in church education. Some of that was sort of evidence based sex ed that actually helped parents get up to speed on how to talk in healthy ways to their children.

The the unitary church has what they call the owl program. It's our whole lives. And they're having sex ed starting from the moment kids are little and they're empowering parents. They're wanting to forge the relationship and oftentimes those relationships are forged by a thousand one minute conversations.

However, to your point, we are all a generation where we were never raised learning how to talk to kids about sex let alone our partners let alone for us to be comfortable.

It would be that would be my alternate solution is because I everything I'm hearing too is this is really such a systemic issue.

And so putting a stop to the interviews and now reevaluating.

And so it's because if you want the parent to be the go to then we've got to change the system to allow that to happen.

Yeah, okay, the church offers a statement that they think is going to make you parents feel a lot better. It says when a church leader meets with the child youth or woman.

Not man for some reason.

They're encouraged to ask a parent or another adult to be in an adjoining room, foyer or hall.

And so that's the chances that maybe misunderstood. Why is that not making you feel better, Bryn you're shaking your head.

This is probably the statement that gets me the most sort of perturbed in this entire article.

First of all, I don't know why men aren't included and I feel like, well, I have this inkling that if we started a men to movement, there would be a lot more men than we think who are abused and they just don't talk about it.

Secondly, I just a closed door. I mean, you don't even need a closed door. Like I've had cases where someone was abused in a public swimming pool in a drive through to a restaurant.

I mean, an open door with mom sitting in the next room and it just you just don't need it and a closed door is even worse. I don't care if they're sitting right outside.
