Today on the show, legendary radio broadcaster Phil Hendry talks about the new documentary,

Hendry.

When I got this gig in Ventura, and I knew I was doing character voices, and I wanted to introduce

different characters in this sort of a radio play every day.

But I listened one day to an interview being done by a host on KABC,

and he was reading this interview that was done with Saddam Hussein. When he read Saddam Hussein's

part, he put a filter on his voice. So he said, and when did you invade Kuwait? I invaded Kuwait.

And I thought, oh, wow, I could be Saddam Hussein.

Well, that wouldn't be realistic.

I know what I'll do is I'll interview a guy who has sympathy for Saddam Hussein. In fact, I think I'll just come on the air as that guy and say that Phil Henry is on vacation, you know. But I wanted to tell you that,

Saddam Hussein, a lot of you people have got him all wrong, you know.

A good man, you that, said, I'm Hussein. A lot of you people have got him all wrong, you know.

A good man, you know.

And my producer was a guy named Greg Blasser, who was in the other studios, a young man,

and he looked at me and he's waving his arm and he's saying,

we're getting phone calls.
