Welcome back to the Lincoln Project. I'm your host, Ray Galen. Today, our Thanksgiving

week episode. Once again, I'm coming to you solo to answer questions that come from you,

the hundreds of thousands of listeners of this podcast and of the Lincoln Project community.

As you all know, we take these questions from social media, emails, town halls, and

You never know if you might hear your question discussed on the show. So with that, let's get into

your questions. Our first question comes from David Betoff about Steve Bannon. He says,

Steve Bannon has now been charged with criminal contempt of Congress, yet he has no court-ordered

restrictions such as a GPS ankle bracelet, a gag order, or being remanded to jail until his trial.

Instead, not even off the steps of the courthouse, he continues to make threats of further violence

with the attit of sedition. Why is this the way things are playing out? So David, this is a great

question and one that I've actually been thinking about. I do believe that Bannon was forced to give

up his passport, but that's probably not a big hurdle to him fleeing justice if he thought that

that's what he needed to do. We should remember that a lot of this is all just a delaying tactic. My

guess is, is that ultimately, he will either come to trial or he will go before Congress because for

him, much like Trump, his former boss, he loves the spotlight. And so, you know, who knows how long

this takes. It could be a month. It could be six months, but the point is ultimately he's going to

have to either go to jail for his unwillingness to appear or he is going to sit there at the table,

blow V8, probably take the fifth amendment against self-incrimination, which will inflame, you

know, his opponents by saying, you know, he's taking the fifth because he knows if he did say

something, it would mean he's guilty. The right will say, you know, he doesn't have to answer these

questions. It's a bullshit deal, notwithstanding the fact that, you know, the Benghazi investigation
