Two-minute warning edition posted on Fridays to give you something to think about watch for

or do to finish your week strong and maximize your weekend. Yes, I'll also include an occasional

red zone rant, but not today. The topic I want to talk about today is lighten up. Now,

obviously, you've got to take your character, your discipline, your attitude, your competence, and results very seriously, right? But don't take yourself so seriously.

The little screw-ups, the mistakes, the bloopers, the insults people throw at you, the fun they

make of you, the jokes they make about you. Listen, lighten up. That stuff will get you out of your zone.

If everything is a matter of life or death, you're going to be dead a lot. And don't take so much personally. In fact, when these things come at you, use it as a test to grow, as a test to stay in your zone, as a test to handle it better than you did the last time. and this will earn respect. Lighten up.

And, you know, some of these people are just fools anyway, so don't argue publicly with fools or on social media. Don't argue with fools. Spectators can't tell the difference. So go ahead and laugh at yourself. Everyone else is. It's okay. Just say it out loud. I screw it up. I have flaws. I'm not what I should be, but I'm not where I used to be either. And I'm going to max off the journey and laugh along the way. Lighten up. Life is short. It's better if you lighten up. Let me close by saying this. You may not be able to add years to your life. You can add life to your years. And you can start now by lightening up. Stop being lived and start living.
