Proverbs chapter 10 verse 17

whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who rejects reproof leads others astray.

This is a simple, clear exhortation to all of us, isn't it?

Like, heed instruction.

That is what you do when you're on the path to life.

Heed instruction.

This is why, just practically,

why we spend time in God's word on a daily basis

because we want to heed instruction from God himself.

Like if we don't spend time in God's word, we don't listen to God's word and heed it. We are not on the path of life. We are rejecting

reproof. Like this is one of the purposes of God's word. You look at 2nd Timothy chapter 3 versus 16 and 17 and we see that God's word is inspired,

breathed out by God is useful for instruction and reproof.

This is exactly what God's word does. So we need his word in our lives to

heed instruction. This is what leads us to life. We need his word to reprove us and if we reject proof, then not only will

we go astray but we will also lead others astray, like hear that in Proverbs Chapter

10, verse 17,

that the effects of not heating instruction

don't just affect us, they affect others.

I think about this in my life,

like if I'm not heating instruction from God in His Word, if I'm rejecting

reproof from God in His Word, then I will lead my kids astray.
