One of the major features of the Second World War was the influence that Air Power would have

both on the plans developed by nations during the 1930s and then the actual events of the

war after 1939.

Air Power had played an important role during the First World

War, but it was something new at that time and all the changes that occurred after 1914

were at a breakneck pace as every nation tried to adjust to the realities of this new military

tool that was growing and evolving all the time.

During the interwar years, everybody would be allowed to take a bit of a breather and to really

consider what the future of air power would be.
