Hey there, what's up? Welcome. This is Situsal School. My name is Chris Gillibov. We have just finished week 13 of season 3.

0:16.0

Feels like only yesterday we began this exploration of real people all over the world who are starting little businesses without quitting their job.

0:24.0

And without going into debt and without going to business school, it's a whole new way of life that so many people are pursuing.

0:29.0

And even though it feels like yesterday it was actually 819 days ago, because here we are at episode 820.

0:35.0

Now this past week featured tarot cards and art blog, pins for cocktail lovers, and a woman who solves a highly personal problem involving shapewear and going to the bathroom.

0:45.0

All in a week's work, right? Like I say sometimes you never know where you're going to hear on the program.

0:49.0

I never know from week to week when I get the notes for the stories. I'm like wow, we got a lot of stuff going on.

0:54.0

People are doing all kinds of things. They're all sorts of ways to make money.

0:57.0

So in this action pack recap, I'm going to bring you some further reflections from one of this week's case studies in addition to an audio update from a previously featured a side hustler.

But first I wanted to mention at least for anybody listening in real time today is the very last day to sign up for the 30 day landing page challenge.

1:14.0

If you're listening later, a lot of us will be doing this challenge over the next 30 days all throughout the month of April of 2019.

1:20.0

It's all about helping you start or grow a mailing list of your own. The challenge is completely free. There's a lot of training. There's nothing for sale.

1:26.0

And there will be more than $5,000 worth of prizes for the winner. So all you need to do to sign up is go to sideuselschool.com slash challenge.

1:33.0

And if you're listening to this later, well, maybe you can still check that page because perhaps there could be something up there who knows.

So a few days ago, episode 817, I told you the story of Rin, Rin McMurdo, who originally set out to make and sell chocolate.

1:57.0

It was some specific kind of chocolate. And she was actually doing pretty well with it. Like she actually had her chocolate in different stores. She figured out the packaging.

2:04.0

She figured out everything except the fact that she didn't actually like to make the chocolate. She liked having the chocolate mate, which is kind of how I feel a lot of people are about books.

2:11.0

A lot of people don't want to write a book, but they like the idea of having written a book, which I do understand. But if you're going to be an author, I think it's important to actually like the process of writing a book.

2:19.0

If you're going to be a chocolate here, you should probably enjoy the process of baking. So anyway, she completely changes her business model.

2:25.0

She's not afraid to walk away from something that's working and goes into tarot cards. It's not entirely unrelated because she discovered that while she was figuring out the packaging for her chocolate, she did these really fun illustrations.

2:36.0

She built this whole brand that she essentially transitioned from one to the other. But I like something that she said, a couple things she said.

2:43.0

One quote I did mention in the episode, I think at least, she said, when it's a side hustle, you can take more risks because it's on the side. It's not your main source of income.
