Thanks so much for joining me today.

So today, I'm going to talk to you about what the Bible says,

just a few things about what the Bible says about delight,

especially this commonly quoted text from Psalm 37 verse 4.

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and he shall give you the desires of your heart.

What does it mean to delight in the Lord?

Well, it means to take pleasure in, to rejoice in, to be pleased with.

It is a feeling, yes, but more importantly,

because we cannot always generate feelings on command.

It is a frame of mind, a choice we make.

Sometimes we may get the cart before the horse.

We lay out the desires of our heart and then we try to delight in the Lord

so that he will approve our desires, but that's not the correct order.

First, we delight in the Lord, but more about this in a minute.

First, we need to just look at the previous verses in this Psalm.

We're not to fret or worry over the way evil people prosper,

and we must not envy them because God is going to cut them down.

Fret not thyself because of evil doers.
