Hi, this is Jennifer Rubin, and this is Jen Rubin's Green Room. Hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving.

Here in Washington, D.C., there's plenty of news, and it is already Tuesday. First of all,

there has been a declaration of martial law in South Korea, which has been short-circuited,

we think, by the national legislature. We'll see if the president backs down. But this is instructive. We are living in an era in which

democratic backsliding seems to be the rule, not the exception. And we will see both how the

President of South Korea reacts and how this administration reacts. Frankly, I'm glad it happened now if it was going to happen,

because you can imagine that when things like this will occur under Donald Trump, he'll not

bat an eye. He doesn't care about democracy. In fact, he likes the idea of strong men. He would

encourage the president of South Korea to do these sorts of things.

And that is one of the many dangers of having Donald Trump as president of the United States.

He will encourage the worst behavior from the worst authoritarian.

He will undercut human rights.

He will undercut democratic institutions.

So final that one, array. Speaking of democratic institutions,

Cash Patel, he has been named by Donald Trump as the new FBI director. There are a few

problems. One, there is already an FBI director who is supposed to serve a 10-year term. Donald Trump has not said

whether he is prepared to fire Chris Ray, who's the incumbent. Frankly, it's not clear that Donald

Trump even understands that Chris Ray doesn't disappear when he is inaugurated. You never can assume

that Donald Trump actually understands how government

operates. In any event, Cash Patel is bad news. He has threatened people. He has a

enemies list. He is a election denier, a Q&ON, a Q&ON, conspiratorial nut. He is everything you don't want in an FBI director. And if we are

concerned about weaponizing government, well, that's about the worst possible person you can put in
