the confluence of the river's rover and HIPAA its history can be traced back to the founding of a Roman

fort in 1 AD, and indeed its Anglo-Saxon name derives from the Old English Kaster, meaning Roman fort,

and Feld, meaning grazing land.

Its biggest landmark is the Church of St Mary

and All Saints which boasts a famously crooked spire. Never let it be said, I take no interest

Research. You know more about my hometown than I do. Interesting fact though about the church you just mentioned which has the famous crooked spire.

Is it actually a crack then?

It probably has been at certain points, but it's probably the most famous thing about my hometown apart from page 3 girl Joe Guest who also hails from Chesterfield

It's that this crooked spire and the mythology goes that it will straighten only when a virgin is married in that church
