In this episode, I share how one of our patients, Amy, struggled to find success with hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for symptoms of anxiety and depression and instead found relief with probiotics.
As she worked through these issues with our clinic’s Dr. Scott, she was able to see the connections between her mood, hormones, and gut health. Amy’s other symptoms were gas, bloating, loose stools, and insomnia.
While there’s not one magic bullet that resolves everyone’s symptoms, probiotics made a substantial difference in Amy’s overall health.
Tune in to hear more about her health journey and how probiotics improve cortisol, gut dysbiosis, sleep, and more.

| 0:45.8 | discuss if probiotics might be able to improve mood more in a woman than hormone replacement therapy. |
| 0:53.1 | Certainly, it's known that hormones impact mood. |
| 0:57.0 | But when you're struggling with the symptom, if you're a woman and you have anxiety, depression, |
| 1:01.0 | PMS, and you're trying to figure out why am I feeling this way? What can I do to fix this in my body? |
| 1:08.0 | Probiotics may be an underappreciated aspect of improving mood symptoms. |
| 1:14.2 | And let's look at a case from someone with which we were consulting. Her name is Amy. |
| 1:19.8 | And she was working, as you see here, with Dr. Scott Spardagliosi from our office. |
| 1:25.9 | Excuse me. And Amy was a 55-year-old menopausal female who was suffering with depression, anxiety, |
| 1:34.2 | also gas, bloating, loose dules, abdominal pain, and insomnia. |
| 1:40.4 | So certainly being menopausal and having insomnia, |
| 1:43.8 | and having insomnia, depression, and anxiety would throw up a flag that female hormones might be implicated. |
| 1:48.6 | But let's look at her case so that we can learn what Amy needed. |
| 1:52.3 | And as a quick aside, you've probably heard me say something along the lines of, there's rarely kind of this one silver bullet that resolves all of someone's issues. But if we can get |
| 2:04.8 | two or three very well crafted recommendations, oftentimes we'll pick up roughly 30% per |
| 2:13.2 | intervention. And these two or three things will bring someone from let's say on a scale of one to |
| 2:20.2 | 100 they rate their health at 30 or 40 and they want to get to 100 well if you get a 30 |
