Hello, I'm Eddie Mayor and this is the Grenfell Tower Inquiry podcast, reporting every day the inquiry sits.

Today, the inquiry heard from a resident on the 12th floor, who was told by the fire brigade to stay in his flat as late as 230.

That was the only chance of survival for someone to come for us.

When new windows were fitted, they were smaller than the old ones.

One day, the window in one of the bedrooms fell out.

Now, when you describe the window falling out of the frame, as you say in paragraph 11 of your

statement, was that only the glass or did it include the PVC frame? No, the whole frame, the whole frame

came out. The whole frame came out. Yeah. What was left behind? The space where the window should be. And was that repaired?

Yeah. Do you remember who repaired it? Riding. Linda Printess came up the same day after I called him.

And did she explain to you why the window had fallen in? She said they were putting so many windows in. This one was probably a few bolts, a few rivets was not replaced, not put in,

which was an easy mistake to happen with the amount of work they was doing.

There were also gaps below the other window frames in the flat.

In his bedroom, Roy Smith was able to put his hand through

and touch the foam insulation on the outside of the building.
