And Susan and Bob are also retired FBI profilers, and we work together in the FBI's

behavioral analysis unit.

So today we're going to begin our analysis of the crimes that have been attributed to the serial killer who called himself

the zodiac.

So along with Charles Manson, the Zodiac killer was someone who haunted my childhood nightmares.

And I have been fascinated like many people have with this case from a very young age.

It's also probably one of the reasons I wanted to become an FBI profiler, but it had a big influence on me and my interest in this particular series.

So just a real quick recap of his crimes or synopsis of his crimes. The series began in December

1968 and ended in October 1969. Now these are the crimes that have been attributed to him

and they have been confirmed by law enforcement. There are some other crimes that he is suspected of.

We're not going to be covering those crimes in this particular analysis.

So the Zodiac became known and well known for his correspondence with media, local newspapers,

and this correspondence included ciphers that he claimed would reveal his identity if they could be solved.

And this is how he became so famous and what he's most known for.

And he also demanded in this correspondence that these newspapers publish these ciphers, or he would would kill more and he was including children.

So this is a massive case and many people have looked at it for years and years and years.

So this was one that I wanted to bring in an outside expert to help walk us through the Zodiac's crimes. So I want to welcome Michael
