I just became a cop in Louisiana.

I recently transferred to a Louisiana police department.

I don't wish to share the name of this city where I work in because this tale cannot get back to my boss.

I'm certain she would think that I wasn't all there if she heard what I saw in the bayou while looking for a body.

The new city was a bit of a culture shock, and the humid weather near did me in for the

first few months. Before the bayou case had started, I met an odd person while on my lunch break

that gave me hints of how strange this new city really was. There is a fish shack near by my office.

It was mostly outdoor table space to eat, but I normally would bring my lunch back to eat

on my desk.

I hated sitting outside in the sun trying to enjoy a meal.

While I was walking past the seating area, I noticed something that made me pause.

A boy, barely a teen, was sulking around the trash can, and I mean sulking. The fish shack was pretty

much a fast food place, and people would toss away their trash outside at the end of the meal.

The boy watched as a couple got up and tossed a styrofoam container away with a few fries and a small piece of fried fish inside.

He waited until they took a few steps away until you quickly pulled the container out.

Before we could eat the scraps, I walked over to him.

Hey, don't eat that.

I told him and he was so startled that he dropped the container.

I didn't mean to scare him or sound so harsh.

Handing him my lunch, I bent down to pick up the garbage and I threw it away again.
