Summary

Most of you know EA-owned DICE as the Scandinavian creators of the Battlefield series (and the resuscitators of Star Wars Battlefront, too), but tucked quietly away in Los Angeles is a DICE support studio aptly called DICE LA. DICE LA is essentially the remnants of the old Medal of Honor team Danger Close that's since been relegated to secondary status, but it appears all of that's about to change. Electronic Arts has opted to dispatch the creative might of Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella to revitalize and rebrand the dev, with a new game promised for the coming years. Is this a wise move, or is EA getting distracted by shiny objects to the detriment of perhaps its most reliable talent? Let's chat about it. Then: Sony talks PlayStation 5 at CES (kinda), Dragon Quest XII is officially in development, Final Fantasy VII Remake is getting a demo, and much more. Plus: Listener questions galore, and Colin tells Chris he's getting drafted and going to Iran to fight on our behalf. How unfortunate for him. Learn more about your ad choices. This is Episode 80. My name is Colin Moriardium. Join us by Chris.

0:33.5

His ass is going to Iran.

0:35.2

Ray Gunn. Chris, how you doing? I'm doing pretty good.

0:38.3

80, Jesus. Yeah, it's Episode 80. That's almost disgusting.

0:42.2

It is. It's actually gross. I don't like it at all. But here we are.

0:45.6

80 is about the maximum age that I'll probably reach in my life.

0:51.2

I already feel like I'm 95, so I'm on borrowed time, actually, as we move forward.

0:56.8

Chris, how are you? How does everything find you? You might get drafted. Are you a little scared?

1:00.8

Going over to the Middle East? If I am drafted, I'm sure I will disappoint very, very quickly.

1:08.0

Yeah, I have no doubt about that. Now, I was making a little joke on the internet about how,

1:13.8

oh, I made a little, always sunny in Philadelphia joke on Twitter about getting drafted,

1:18.7

and how frank or mantis toboggan MD comes in tells me that I have AIDS.

1:23.8

Therefore, I don't have to go over. But then a lot of people are very quick to remind me,

1:28.1

Colin, you are well out of the draft age, and that's true. I can now sit behind my computer and

1:34.4

say whatever I want and be as hawkish as I want and all that. I'm not going to go fight.

1:39.1

What do I care? What's the draft age? I think you have to be part of selective service from 18 to 26.

1:47.0

I thought that the draft, I could be wrong about this. I did study American history in college,

1:50.5

so I probably should know this. But I thought that the draft age in World War II went all the way up

1:54.7

to the early to mid-30s. But I don't know. If the war was bad enough, you wouldn't have to draft me.
