Let me tell you about something that happened earlier this month.

Actually, it's a story that started a while ago, 10 years ago, roughly speaking.

But as far as I'm concerned, it functionally ended a few weeks back in August 2025.

It's the story of my whole thing with Carl Buccio, the subject of this podcast.

But there's a new development.

I heard that something big was in the works.

That the cops were meeting with the prosecutors, and that maybe, possibly, finally, they were ready to take some real action in Carl's case. And on Thursday, August 14th, I was ready. I spent that

day calling detectives, sending emails, running down any lead I could. Except nothing. No response, no word. But around 9 p.m. Pacific, I got the information I was

looking for. It wasn't from the police. It was from a new source. Somebody completely random,

presumably a listener of this show, messaging me on Instagram. Can you believe it? After all these

years of reporting, digging, waiting, I find out from a DM from a stranger. And in a way,

this makes complete sense, because this story has always had a habit of turning people into amateur

detectives.

Except the days of the general public feeling like they have to investigate Carl Buccio may be over,

at least for now, because here was the news I was being tipped off about, courtesy of ABC 13 in Houston.

A man accused of robbing more than a dozen couples of their wedding dreams is now in custody.

Well, yes, this is Carl Boucho, who was captured in Austin, but investigators say he was posing as the owner of a wedding venue in Willis.

Investigators say he posed as Lance Miller,

owner of Charleston Lane wedding venue in Willis, Texas,

and scammed at least 17 victims.
