Summary

This week, I had the chance to interview the inimitable Kate Kennedy of Be There in Five! Kate is an entrepreneur, creative consultant, author, and pop culture commentator. Kate also has a phenomenal podcast that deep dives into the zeitgeist, all the way from Real Housewives to Bath and Body Works scents. I had an absolute blast talking to her about the world of influencers, building a brand, and finding the humor in all of it. We also touch on Hamilton, TikTok, and deep dish pizza (you know, the IMPORTANT stuff.) Enjoy!

Be sure to follow Kate Kennedy on Instagram and listen to her podcast! (Be There in Five, @bethereinfive)

Hi everybody, welcome back to the Bad Broadcast. I am so excited about my episode today guys.

0:06.4

I had a chance to interview Kate Kennedy who I have followed for a really long time. She was the very

0:12.0

first person that I ever reached out to to interview. She was like on my interview bucket list.

0:18.2

Me and Jordan even talk about her in my like second episode. We talk about, you know, how cool she is

0:23.6

and that I emailed her and I thought there was no chance I would ever be able to interview her.

0:28.2

And I did and it was amazing. She was so cool, so nice. But I was so, so, so nervous. And when

0:34.4

the interview starts, I like don't even give her a chance to introduce herself. I just dive on into

0:38.4

all my questions. So I wanted to give you guys a little bit of an intro to the episode and give

0:42.8

you guys some context for a couple things that we talk about. So first, I want to tell you about Kate.

0:47.4

So Kate started off doing dormats, which seems random. But she started those dormats that I know

0:52.7

you guys have seen. They're all over Pinterest and they went super viral. They're the ones that say,

0:57.3

turn off your straightener or turn off your curling iron. And she has a bunch of other

1:00.8

custom ones. But those are the ones that I first saw a few years ago. And after that, she

1:06.8

wrote a children's book, which it's like a parody book on influencers. It's called, it's

1:11.4

called Twinkle Twinkle social media star. It's incredible. It's right up my alley, obviously,

1:16.5

because all of my most of my stuff is about influencers, most of my like jokes and things I talk

1:21.2

about are about influencers. So I love it. And now she has a podcast. So her brand is called Be There

1:26.7

and Five. That's the name of her podcast also. And it's a long form podcast, meaning it's like

1:31.9

each episode is usually an hour and a half to two hours. And she does these incredible deep dives

1:36.6

on really specific topics that people are super interested in that aren't really covered in any

1:42.6

other media. And we talk about that a little bit. And why I thought she would be such a good fit

1:48.1

for the podcast is because so right now with with my podcast, I'm still small. Like you guys know
