Summary

The Death of Andrew Lewis -- a beloved musician is shot. His ex-girlfriend was a witness. The shooter, Eli Miller, was her date and he had been trying to assault Andrew all evening. Miller would claim it was self-defense. But how is shooting someone in the back of the head self-defense?

*This is the annual rerelease of Andrew's episode. I wish there was an update, but sadly, there isn't. I will continue to release this episode on the anniversary of Andrew's death every year in the hopes that someone new listens. I know new listeners often skip old episodes, and the audio is not perfect on this one, but it is worth it. And if you feel the need to speak up, the contact info for the Montgomery DA's office is below.

The Lewis family has lost hope in receiving justice for their beloved son and brother, but I intend to do everything I can to make sure this travesty of an investigation is not forgotten.

Original Music featured on this episode: "Song for Me" - Written and recorded by Andrew Lewis.

Today, January 17, 2021 marks the fifth anniversary of the death of Andrew Lewis, and my fourth

0:09.0

update on this case as I released the episode 4-4th time.

0:15.5

My editor remastered the original audio file, but it was recorded over four years ago,

0:21.2

and as you know, I've made many equipment and studio changes since.

0:25.5

I know the original audio isn't perfect, but I stand by my reporting of this case, and

0:30.7

I hope you'll bear with me if it's the first time you're listening.

0:34.7

This story is worth it.

0:37.5

When I first released this episode, I had to go back and create an update almost immediately,

0:43.1

because by the time I had recorded and posted the episode, the Montgomery County District

0:47.4

Attorney had finally reached out to Andrew's family.

0:52.0

I had been critical of their office for many reasons, but at the time of the first recording,

0:57.9

they had been ignoring Andrew's family for six months.

1:01.6

They had brought Eli Miller before a grand jury in the summer of 2017, but failed to

1:06.8

get an indictment due to insufficient evidence.

1:11.2

Many people believe that they went before the grand jury prematurely.

1:15.8

The DA's office had been waiting on a ballistics report, but it isn't clear whether they actually

1:21.1

had it before they went to the grand jury.

1:24.3

And also, Assistant DA Scott Green was taken off the case right before the hearing.

1:29.7

He had never wanted this case to go to trial and he made no bones about it.

1:34.1

They brought in another Assistant DA named Gloria James, who was not as familiar with the

1:38.7

case and did not present all of the relevant evidence.

1:43.1

Not that there was much evidence to begin with.
