The human race just set a record.

8 million people now inhabit our fall in space,

but who was the 8 billionth person?

Hard to say. Perhaps they were born in India.

India is home to 1.4 billion people.

This population is projected to soon become the world's largest.

Or maybe in Nigeria.

The most serious population could add over 200 million people,

and a high fertility rate.

Wherever baby 8 billion was born,

chances are it wasn't Europe or Japan,

or anywhere else the population is dropping.

According to experts, Italy's decreasing population

is the most pressing issue that needs to be addressed.

Population is booming in poorer countries,

and dropping in richer ones.

On today's plane, we're going to ask what that means

for humanity's future.

I think that the holidays feel like frozen noses.
