AEW might be the most over-analyzed wrestling promotion in history.

This is largely a consequence of the way it has disrupted the pro wrestling market and

the norm since 2019.

Although AW has largely become part of that norm now in late 2025, it was the first promotion

to put a dent in WW's armour since WC died, and a lot of people don't like that.

AW has aspired to be different, offering a looser wrestling product with a greater emphasis on match quality,

violence and mammoth paper views. After 20 years of a WWE monopoly, anything different

was always going to attract as threatening to overly defensive fed stands who have

never known another wrestling, and so it continues.

2025 was a solid year for AEW creatively, and as soon as Hangman Adam Page became world

champion again, it felt like the vibes were back. But while the vibes might be good,

business, unfortunately, is not, pay-. Paperview attendances and buys aside.

2026 is on the horizon now, and AEW is still over-analyzed.

So, today, the H stands for Hippocrat, because guess what I'm about to do?

There are a number of worrying factors clouding the promotion as we tick over into another year,

and now we're going to explore them.
