A first step. I'm Paul Stevens, Fox News, the House passing a measure today to keep

the government up and running for 45 days. Now it's being looked at by the Senate.

House bill keeps the government open at a higher funding level than the Senate bill

and includes disaster relief and FAA authorization. Yesterday, extreme House Republicans were trying

to cut these programs deeply with devastating 30% cuts, but they reverse themselves. There's

no question all 1.3 million active duty members of the military are going to be happy to see

that this government shutdown may be averted because that way they'll still keep getting

paychecks. Now we have to see what the Senate will do. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell

sounded optimistic after news broke of the House vote to keep the government open. In

Washington, Jill NATO, Fox News. A strike by the United Auto Workers expand.

The United Auto Workers Union says it's two-week strike against Detroit auto makers will

spread to 7,000 more workers. I'm calling on Ford's Chicago assembly plant to stand

up and go on strike. And I'm calling on GM's Lansing Delta Township to stand up and

go out on strike.

U.A.W. President Sean Faines says Jeep makers to Lantis was spared from a third round

of strikes. 25,000 workers are now off the job and on picket lines. Had dozens of plans

and parts facilities across the country in the union's demands for a 40% pay hike of

four-day work week and other benefit in job protections. Jeff Manasso, Fox News.

A federal court ordering the owners of 14 subway stores in the San Francisco area to pay

employees nearly $1 million in damages and back pay also to sell or shut those businesses.

John and Jessica Meza had kids as young as 14 operating dangerous machinery and they did
