North American Tariff Talk is back. Fox News. I'm Jane Fergus. The U.S. Commerce Secretary says that after six years of a revamped trade agreement between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, expect a renegotiation of that deal. Here's Fox's Granalt Scott.

Face the Nation said the president is focused on global tariffs, but the U.S.-Mexico-Canada

agreement will look different over time. Lutnik said, as it stands now, about 75% of goods from

Canada and Mexico come in free, but that's not a big benefit to America.

It makes perfect sense for the president to renegotiated. He wants to protect American jobs.

He doesn't want cars built in Canada or Mexico when they could be built in Michigan and Ohio.

Lutnik says those discussions could be as much as a year away. A revamped deal would extend the USMCA another 16 years.

President Trump criticized Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell for his hesitation to cut interest rates.

House Intelligence Committee ranking member Jim Himes joined CBS's Face the Nation,

alleging that someone is advising the president against firing the Fed chair.

Somebody is saying to the president, the economic instability that gets caused when the

cornerstone of the global economy and capital markets all of a sudden has a politically

driven interest rate policy, I think that's the one thing that's holding them off.

The president reportedly floated the idea of firing Powell, but later said that was highly

unlikely. He appointed the Fed chair in 2017, but has since turned increasingly vocal in his

opposition. The decision to cut interest rates is made by the Federal Open Market Committee.
