later this hour after the Supreme Court issued its landmark ruling on presidential

immunity.

The historic ruling says former presidents do not have total immunity but are shielded

from prosecution for actions taken in their official capacity.

It is a distinction lower courts must now figure out in former

President Trump's federal election interference case. The 63 ruling

authored by Chief Justice John Roberts will likely delay that trial beyond the November election, reviving a claim

from the former president he can't be prosecuted in the case.

The court's three liberal justices dissented, Justice Sonia Sotomayor writing,

the relationship between the president and the people

has shifted irrevocably,

concluding in every use of official power.

The president is now a king above the law.
