Secretary of State Antidell Lincoln met with

China's President Xi Jinping in an attempt to diffuse animosity,

saying they agreed to stabilize ties.

The White House says Secretary Blinken's visit

was also a way to make a good step forward

when it comes to the talks between the U.S. and China.

However, after this high-stakes trip,

it's clear that there are a number of challenges which remain.

The Secretary did have a chance to sit down with the Chinese President

on top of meeting with other Chinese officials.

There were no major announcements though about changes to the way things are right now.

China is still rejecting efforts by the U.S.

to reestablish military communications between both countries.

Secretary Blinken said today he made the appeal to the highest levels

of the Chinese Communist government.
