arrived in China for a state visit as his country's forces step up the

offensive in northeastern Ukraine.

White House Press Secretary Corin Jean-Pierre says the White House doesn't usually

We find it unacceptable that the Chinese companies

are helping Putin wage this war against Ukraine.

And if China purports to want good relations

with Europe and other countries, It cannot continue to fuel the biggest

threat to European security right now.

Before the visit, Putin told Chinese media the Kremlin is prepared to negotiate over the war in Ukraine,

but he said negotiations must take into account

the interests of all countries involved in the conflict. Doctors in Slovakia are said to be fighting

to save the life of the nation's prime minister who is shot several times during an

assassination attempt.

The Slovakian defense minister speaking to reporters is calling the condition of the nation's

prime minister Robert Fico extraordinarily serious.

Fico was shot multiple times earlier today after a political event.

The Prime Minister was reportedly shot in the stomach.

A suspect is in custody but has not been named.

Slovakia's interior minister is now saying the first phases of the

investigation are revealing the attack appears to be politically motivated.
