I'm Joe Chiro, Fox News. Negotiations continue between House Republicans and the White House

to avert a potential default before what the Treasury says is a June 1st deadline to

raise the debt ceiling. Speaking on CBS's face in nation, National Economic Council director

Lail Brainerd says Congress is fully capable of doing what it's done 78 times before.

The most important thing is making sure that Congress fulfills its basic responsibility

to avert default.

House Republicans say they'll only raise the debt ceiling if the Biden administration

agrees to deep spending cuts. President Biden told reporters today meeting with Republicans

on the debt ceiling may be Tuesday. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayarquez says

the administration has been preparing for months for the lifting of Title 42 and he tells ABC's

this week they've been executing that plan. We've already removed thousands of people

who have arrived at our southern border.

New York has also says a number of crossings at the border has gone down by 50 percent

since the expiration of Title 42 last week. A New York City non-profit groups as the

immigration problem is leaving homeless veterans there with no place to sleep.

The veterans advocacy group based a little more than an hour away from the city helps homeless

and low-income veterans find places to stay. A spokesperson for the nonprofit telling Fox

news in part. Our veterans were housed in several hotels that were preparing to receive

migrants from New York City. Thankfully my team and I were able to scramble and find

temporary housing for these veterans.
