Kentucky man as the sentence him for his role in the Capitol riot.

Peter Schwartz was sentenced to 14 years in prison for attacking police officers with

pepper spray as he and his wife stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Schwartz's

prison sentence, the longest so far among hundreds of convictions in these Capitol riot cases.

The Capitol had been seeking over 24 years for the Kentucky native, a U.S. District judge

factoring in Schwartz's criminal history and this now record-setting sentence, that same

judge actually handed down the previous longest sentence of 10 years to a retired New York

police officer who assaulted a cop outside the Capitol.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mallorca has made a visit to the Southern border ahead

of the expiration of Title 42 next week and expected a surge of migrants. He says migrants

who try to cross illegally will face consequences. People, vulnerable people are receiving false

information. They are being lied to that if they come and arrive at our border that they

can stay in the United States, that is not what the law provides. That is not the consequence

that we will deliver.

Title 42 is a health policy put in place during the pandemic that kept most migrants out

of the U.S. last week the Biden administration announced it would put processing centers

in place in Guatemala and Colombia and update on the condition of four of the victims

of the shooting at a medical office in Atlanta earlier this week.

Two remain in the ICU in critical condition. One is being transferred from the ICU to the

surgical floor so they have improved significantly and then one is going home.
