A dire warning. I'm Lisa LaSera, Fox News, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says lawmakers

need to take action now to raise the jet ceiling.

Economic catastrophe. That's what Secretary Yellen says will happen if Congress does

and has the current debt ceiling of more than $31 trillion.

Likely effects, she says, will include a roading credit for businesses, higher payments

on cars and mortgages for consumers, not to mention job cuts.

The U.S. hit the debt limit back in January with Secretary Yellen saying then the money

to pay the nation's bills would run out by June.

Fox's Colonel Scott, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has proposed raising the debt ceiling

but is tied to spending cuts. Something President Biden has said is not negotiable.

The Taliban says it's killed the senior ISIS leader behind the August 2021 suicide bombing

outside the Kabul airport. They killed 13 U.S. service members and about 170 Afghans.

U.S. officials say the leader was killed in early April as the Taliban conducted a series

of operations against ISIS. At the time, the Taliban wasn't aware of the identity of

the person they killed.

Hours after making his run for reelection official, President Biden spoke for union members

in Washington making his case for a second term.
